Financial Wellness Reminder of the Week

Will working cause your child to lose their SSI or SSDI benefits? Not necessarily! 💛

For many families, the fear of losing essential benefits can make employment feel risky. But did you know that Social Security offers work incentives designed to help people with disabilities explore employment and build greater financial independence?

💙 SSI: Earnings generally reduce benefits gradually, and eligible students under 22 may qualify for additional income exclusions.

💚 SSDI: A Trial Work Period and other work incentives may allow beneficiaries to explore employment while maintaining certain benefits and protections.

💛 Medicaid: Special programs may help eligible individuals maintain health coverage while working.

Employment can open doors without automatically closing the safety net. Everyone deserves the opportunity to put their talents to work, build confidence, and pursue a future on their own terms. ✨

Limitless Superstar of the Week

Born with spina bifida, Aaron “Wheelz” Fotheringham has spent his life challenging assumptions about what people with physical disabilities can achieve. At just eight years old, he began experimenting with tricks at his local skatepark, using his wheelchair in ways few had imagined. What started as a childhood passion would eventually become a groundbreaking career.

Aaron went on to pioneer wheelchair motocross (WCMX), becoming the first person to successfully perform a backflip in a wheelchair. He has since set multiple Guinness World Records and performed around the world with Nitro Circus, inspiring audiences with his creativity, athleticism, and determination. But his impact goes beyond spectacular stunts. By helping establish wheelchair motocross as a recognized action sport, Aaron has opened doors for others to explore their talents and pursue new possibilities.

Aaron's journey reminds us that meaningful careers don't always follow conventional paths. Sometimes, they begin with the courage to pursue a passion, challenge expectations, and create opportunities that didn't exist before. 💛
